Professor H. Kamowitz (University of Massachusetts at Boston) visited me for the third time on an EPSRC Visiting Fellowship (reference GR/S16515/01) in February/March 2003 to work on a project entitled Classification and spectra of endomorphisms of algebras of infinitely differentiable functions. We made substantial progress on several problems, obtaining results on homomorphisms between Dales-Davie algebras on compact plane sets and on Riesz endomorphisms of commutative, semisimple Banach algebras. The final report (see below) was rated as tending to outstanding.
