Thesis Title Characterising and benchmarking quantumness in multipartite systems
Thesis Abstract The project aims to investigate all forms of quantumness, including coherence, entanglement and more general correlations, in composite quantum systems. New strong 'monogamy' constraints on the distribution of bipartite and genuine multipartite quantum correlations will be analysed and established for multiqubit systems, unveiling fundamental limitations in the shareability of different quantum correlations as opposed to classical ones. Experimentally-friendly bounds on these measures will be also derived, so as to provide direct methods to probe quantumness in open system evolutions. This approach will have immediate impact on emerging quantum biology research, for which witnessing coherence and quantum correlations in dynamical phenomena where the system of interest is not directly accessible is an important requirement, currently lacking practical solutions.
