Thesis Title Periodic shape analysis
Thesis Abstract Statistical shape analysis is concerned with the modelling and analysis of data consisting of random shapes. Practical examples are shapes of human skulls, cell shape in Biology, and molecular shape in drug development. In many applications of shape analysis one is interested not just in the shape of an object at a snapshot in time, but in objects whose shape changes in time. One type of time dependence is where there is a periodic aspect to the time-evolution of the shape , for example a vibrating molecules, or human motion (e.g. gait analysis). There are a number of interesting and open questions concerning how best to model and analyse such shape date, and several ready-made applications.
