Thesis Title Pattern formation in tumour models
Thesis Abstract The importance of mathematics in the formation of natural patterns was first recognised by Alan Turing in 1952. His theories, which were only confirmed recently, have been used to explain many natural patterns, including the growth of tumours. Modelling the growth of a tumour is complicated as it must take into account several factors, such as cell density, proliferation rate, invasion rate into the host tissue etc. The stability of the tumour boundary during growth is an important aspect from a biological viewpoint.
