Thesis Title Information-theoretic analysis of quantum technologies
Thesis Abstract Quantum technologies exploit genuinely quantum effects, such as coherence and nonclassical correlations, to reach superior performance in information processing, communication, computation and metrology. While a quantum advantage over classical procedures has been demonstrated in a variety of settings, fundamental questions remain unanswered regarding what are the ultimate limitations of quantum technologies. This thesis will explore universal limits of practical quantum control and quantum communication protocols from an information-theoretic viewpoint. It will also elucidate the essential physical mechanisms underpinning the quantum-to-classical transition in increasingly complex systems.
